Tollerton Ramblers are a well established and friendly group of approximately 24 members. The group began about 45 years ago and members were almost exclusively drawn from Tollerton. However over the years this has changed and the membership is now more widespread and drawn from the surrounding area of South Nottinghamshire.
The group walks on every last Sunday in the month. Our walks vary from 6, 7 or 8 miles. These are often local walks and always circular walks. The walks are led by volunteers from the group.
Over the years we have walked extensively through the countryside of Nottinghamshire along country lanes, field and riverside tracks, quiet country roads and through some very pretty villages.
With the longer days of Spring and Summer we sometimes go into the Peak District. One year we walked the Five Dales walk beginning in Tideswell famously known as the “Cathedral of the Peak.” The section of the walk along the banks of the Wye through the adjacent Water-cum-Jolly and Miller’s Dales was outstandingly beautiful.
Each year we have a walking weekend away together either in April/May or September. In recent years these have taken place around Leek, Llangollen, The Malverns and Whitby.
